SUMMARY:The Power of Empathy as a Daily Practice
DESCRIPTION:Rebecca Blakiston delivers the opening keynote for the Annual Meeting of the Upstate New York Ontario Chapter of the Medical Library Association (UNYOC/MLA). \nWe do our best work when we understand the needs\, behaviors\, motivations\, and challenges of our end users. Empathy is one of our greatest tools for doing this\, and empathy is both a skill that we can build and a choice that we can make. \nIn this presentation\, you’ll learn tools and techniques for building intentional\, cognitive empathy for your users\, your colleagues\, and yourself. And you’ll learn how incorporating empathy building into your daily practice can make you a better librarian\, collaborator\, and human being.

SUMMARY:Creating User-Centered Website Navigation
DESCRIPTION:Rebecca Blakiston\, America Curl\, and Lara Miller present as part of the University of Arizona’s IT Summit. \nWebsite content is often hidden behind cumbersome menus. How can we better label\, organize\, and design navigation so users can find what they need?
