DESCRIPTION:Rebecca Blakiston presents for 20 minutes as part of the University of Arizona’s IT Summit. \nA well-designed user experience (UX) is a critical component to any digital product or service. UX is a broad-reaching concept and involves user research\, usability testing\, content strategy\, information architecture\, and more. UX@UA is an informal learning community created at the University of Arizona (UA) in 2017 that seeks to bring together UX enthusiasts to learn from one another. We now have over 130 members including students\, staff\, and faculty across the university\, as well as some community members who want to partner with the UA. SUMMARY:Ideate\, Create\, Iterate: A Design Jam for Student Success
DESCRIPTION:Rebecca Blakiston and Darcy Van Patten co-present a workshop as part of the University of Arizona’s IT Summit. \nTo develop the most relevant and impactful solutions\, we need to understand our users and keep their goals\, motivations\, and challenges in mind. \nJoin us for this user experience design jam\, where you’ll rapidly tackle a design challenge using a structured\, team-based approach that puts users at the forefront. We’ll begin by practicing empathy for the end users of our tools\, systems\, and technology. Then\, embracing wild\, divergent thinking and imperfection\, we’ll ideate\, prototype\, test\, and iterate on solutions to some of our students’ biggest challenges. \nYou’ll get hands-on experience working on a diverse team to solve a problem\, and you’ll leave with ideas on how to incorporate design thinking into your work\, no matter your job title.
